Syringe Cradle
The syringe cradle is
provided in two different offset settings. The Z-shaped cradle is needed
for full 10cc syringes. The 10cc syringe will only accommodate an 8cc
fill when used with the straight cradle. The straight cradle is used
with 1, 3, and 5cc syringes. Depending on the length of the syringe
needle, the syringe cradle should be exchanged so that the needle does
not protrude beyond the needle guard.
In addition, the depth that the needle will penetrate the
skin can be adjusted using the depth-adjusting knob. This adjustment
affects how far the needle guard will travel into the housing once
activation occurs and thus how deep the needle will penetrate the skin,
it will not result in a shift of the needle guard until activation
occurs. This depth adjustment can be viewed via a shift of the red
indicator located in a transparent window.

Installing the Syringe
Standard B-D Luer-Lock ® syringes (1, 3, 5, or 10 ml/cc) are recommended
for use with the Inderm-PSI device. To install the syringe, lift open
the door of the syringe driver and slide it as far back as is needed to
clear the syringe. Next, point the tip of the needle into the guard
carefully and then drop the syringe plunger into the appropriate slot of
the driver. Slide the syringe forward until it is fully seated against the cradle and tighten the syringe cradle knob. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SYRINGE CRADLE KNOB.
The needle should not protrude beyond the needle guard. There is a
syringe stop located in the cradle to prevent the syringe from sliding
forward even if the knob is loose. Close the door of the driver to
secure the syringe. The device will not operate unless the door of the syringe driver is closed. Verify that the syringe and needle are purged of air before starting injections.

Deactivating the Needle Guard
** The device can be activated by either pressing the activation button
or pressing the needle guard into the device. If you wish, you may
deactivate the needle guard by turning the device on and before

seconds. The device will beep when you initially press the activation
button, continue to press the activation button for 10 seconds until the
device beeps a second time. The device will now only be activated by
pressing the activation button. To reset the system, to allow for the
activation of the device using the needle guard, you must turn the
device off, turn it back on, and press and hold the activation button
for 10 seconds. Again, the device will beep when you initially press the
activation button, continue to press the activation button for 10
seconds until the device beeps a second time. |

buttons are located to the right of the power button. To select either
the forward or reverse mode, push either button until a beep occurs.
When the forward button is pressed, the device will beep once to
indicate in forward mode. When the reverse button is pressed, the device
will beep twice to indicate in reverse mode. In reverse mode, only the
continuous mode may be used, the C indicator light will flash and
syringe size selections and volume selections will be deactivated. |

Syringe Size and Volume Selection
The
syringe size and volume size must be selected, as shown, before trigger
activation occurs. Press and hold the syringe selection button until the
correct syringe size is chosen. Next, press and hold the volume
selection button until the correct volume is chosen. With the syringe

* Total volume is based on the size of the syringe selected.
In Continuous mode it is recommended that the Inderm be
pulsed with short pauses to alleviate pressure buildup in the syringe.
Verify that the syringe and needle are purged of air before starting injections.
User testing is recommended to verify the volume is adequate for the intended use.
(When using a 10ml syringe, volumes .08 and .10 will only work in slow mode)
|
|
Special 10X Mode:
*Only available in slow mode for the 10 ml syringe and with the .02, .05, and .10 Volume selection.*
To use the 10X mode:
1. Set the speed to slow
2. Set the syringe size to 10ml
3. Select the volume, .02, .05, or .10 (10X mode is only available for volumes .02, .05, and .10).
4. Press the forward and reverse buttons simultaneously for about 1.5 seconds, until the device starts beeping.
5. After the device beeps, release the forward and reverse buttons.
6. The indicator of the volume selected (.02, .05, or .10) will be flashing.
7. The device is now in the 10X mode and will deliver 10 times the volume selected.
The following volumes will be delivered when the unit is set to the 10X mode:

Injecting Doses
The Inderm is
programmed to signal when the injection is completed. The signal is a
single beep that follows every injection. This signal is used to allow
time for the injection to be absorbed |
